Samsung announces Galaxy Tab Active for enterprise users

Samsung Galaxy Tab ActiveSamsung on Thursday introduced its first B2B Android tablet. Part of the Galaxy Tab line-up, the new Galaxy Tab Active is a rugged tablet and has been developed specifically for the business environment with professional functionalities and reinforced security, claims Samsung.

According to Samsung, Galaxy Tab Active sports anti-shock covering, which can withstand a 1.2-meter drop with the protective cover on. It is also water and dust resistant with IP67 certification and includes a C-Pen as an alternative mode of input.

The company also notes that Tab Active will provide up to 10-hour of battery life via its detachable battery, which can easily be replaced with a fresh battery when needed for longer and uninterrupted working.  Samsung’s enterprise security solution Knox is also present on the device.

In terms of the raw specs, the tablet features an 8-inch 1280x800p display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.4, 3.1MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera and LTE support. The tablet also packs 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, microSD card slot and 4450 mAh battery.

The tablet will be released in Titanium Green colour and come bundled with the Protective Cover and the C-Pen. There is no word on availability or pricing.
