Originally announced in June at Google I/O developer event, Android One is Google’s initiative to provide smartphone vendors with turnkey solutions to build affordable Android phones with stock software on-board. According to Google, India will be the first country to get Android One smartphone via Micromax, Karbonn and Spice, which are the first partners for this initiative.
As per recent reports, the Android One phones are likely to get priced over the previously anticipated $100 mark and will include specs like qHD/ WVGA display, dual-core processor, Android 4.4.4 (with Android L update soon after release), FM Radio, dual-SIM support and 1GB of RAM.
Google SVP for Android, Chrome and Apps Sundar Pichai is expected to attend the launch of Android One on September 15 but nothing is official at this point. We hope to get more information in the coming days.
