A lot of new information about the Xiaomi products and their releases in India has appeared in the last 48 hours. While none of this can be considered final as the company is yet to officially announce these details, it is worth sharing with you as it is coming directly from the company executives.

Xiaomi Mi 4 India launch: The company’s head of India operations Manu Kumar Jain is saying that Mi 4 could be released during the period between Diwali and year-end.  He did not give any specific dates or pricing information.  Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra has also given a similar time-frame and has revealed that Xiaomi is building a dual-mode LTE-enabled Mi 4 specifically for India.

Redmi Note India launch: Jain has also revealed that Redmi Note could be launched in around a month from now. The company has already revealed the INR 9,999 price-tag for the phone.

Xiaomi R&D centre in India: Hugo Barra has stated that the company is looking into establishing a Research and Development (R&D) centre in the country. This centre will have an actual engineering team with designers, product managers and software engineers, who will work in building India-specific features rather than just localising what is being developed for China.

Sales via Mi.com: Manu Jain has also stated that Xiaomi is thinking about possible product sales directly from Mi.com (the company website) as it does in other markets. He, however, added that the company will continue to sell via Flipkart, even after opening sales from its own website. Xiaomi has been following a similar hybrid model in Philippines with sales via Mi.com as well as e-retailer Lazada.com.

Mi Home experience centres: Xiaomi is also looking to establish Mi Home experience centres in the country. It already has similar centres in China, where the company display products, accessories at Mi Home, which also acts as a service centre. There is a small lounge or cafeteria as well. First Mi Home is expected in Bangalore within four-to-six months.

Among other tidbits, Mi band, Mi Pad and Mi TV are also expected to arrive in the country but no time-frames have been shared until now.
