HTC’s alleged Nexus tablet spotted on Wi-Fi alliance website

HTC’s upcoming rumoured Nexus tablet “Flounder” has been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance website. The alliance tests and certifies all devices that feature Wi-Fi connectivity and is often a source of leaks.

Although the Wi-Fi alliance listing doesn’t mention any specifics apart from the Android L presence, which is quite obvious, it is still significant because it gives a credibility to the existence of such a tablet.  Apart from AOSP code change-list, the Flounder tablet was yet to be seen at any of the credible sources but that has changed with the latest sighting.

To remind you, as per rumours, HTC is building Nexus 8, which will be a successor to Nexus 7 (2013). There has been no confirmation about the specifications as several leaks and rumours point in different directions. It is quite likely that the tablet will feature a high-res display like Nexus 10 and pack 64-bit processor (make unconfirmed). The tablet could also turn out be the first Nexus device with hefty 4GB of RAM.

HTC Flounder is expected to be announced alongside the final Android L version and the next Nexus smartphone – Motorola Shamu – in Q4, 2014.  There is however no word on any release date right now.
