Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its Galaxy Alpha smartphone on August 4. It is the first Android smartphone from the company to feature a metal chassis (although partly).
According to rumours, the phone will come with a 4.8-inch 720p display, the resolution of which has also been confirmed via a sighting on Samsung Dev portal. In addition, the smartphone is expected to include non-expandable 32GB of internal storage.
Other specifications are unclear at this point but are expected to include 2GB of RAM, Android 4.4, Exynos processor and 13MP rear camera.
In related news, Kim Hyunjoon, SVP at Samsung Mobile, teased the release of Galaxy Alpha during the Q2 earnings call earlier today. He stated that several new smartphones from Samsung are in the pipeline for launch in the next few months, which include a new large-screen flagship (most likely Galaxy Note 4) and another premium phone with new design and materials (indication at Galaxy Alpha). Kim did not share any details about either of the phones.
