Xiaomi introduces Mi Band, a fitness tracker for $13

In addition to the Mi 4 smartphone, Xiaomi also unveiled the Mi Band fitness tracker in China today. Carrying a very aggressive price-tag of 79 yuan ($13), the fitness tracker offers a number of features including sleep tracker, movement tracker, smart alarm clock as well as a authentication device for your phone.

According to Xiaomi, you can set up Mi Band to automatically unlock your smartphone when it is in the proximity.  In addition, the Mi Band is water resistant and last upto 30 days on a single charge.

To be released in multiple colour and design options, the fitness tracker will pack low-power Bluetooth chip, accelerometer and more.

There is no word on the availability right now but we hope to hear more in the coming months.

Xiaomi sales numbers

In related news, Xiaomi today revealed that it has sold 57.36 million smartphones till date – 7.9 million Xiaomi Mi 1 + 17.4 million Mi 2 + 10.5 million Xiaomi Mi 3 + 18 million Hongmi (Redmi) + 3.56 million Hongmi Note (Redmi Note). The company also re-iterated that it hopes to sell 60 million smartphones this year itself.
