Explained on the Android Developers blog, this workaround involves putting wearable APK in the res/raw directory of the paid app.
First discovered two days ago, the paid apps bug was resulting in the failed installs of the Android Wear companion apps because of Google Play’s forward-lock mechanism. Google has stated that it is working to include the necessary fixes in Android SDK build tools but in the meantime, app developers will have to use the workaround.
The search giant has also apologised for the issue.
