Update: Xiaomi has revised the price to INR 13,999 and the pre-registrations begin on July 15, actual sales will start on July 22.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday announced the launch of its first smartphone for the Indian market. The company is releasing its flagship Mi 3 in the country, which will go on sale starting July 15.

Xiaomi has not revealed where it plans to retail the phone but as per previous reports, it is expected to be available via e-retailer Flipkart.

Originally unveiled last year in China, Xiaomi Mi 3 sports a 5-inch full HD display and is powered by 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The phone packs a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 2MP front camera and 3050 mAh battery.

In addition, Mi 3 comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and Android 4.3-based MIUI (Android 4.4 update is available).

Coming to the pricing, the phone has got an impressive price-tag of just INR 14,999, which is in-line with other countries where Xiaomi currently operates.  At this pricing, there is simply no competitor to the phone apart from the rebranded stuff from Indian smartphone vendors, which should play a big role in the success of the phone.

Will you be buying Xiaomi Mi 3?  Let us know in comments.

Time to say goodbye to indian brands who hesitates even to give update ….
I bet this one is going to be best seller…

Tell you what, Snapdragon 800 for under 15K is un-freaking-believable! If XIaomi can back this up with a proper after-sales-service network, it’s time for MMX, Karbonn, Lava etc. to seriously up their game. Nobody’s gonna buy a Canvas Knight for twice as much with a MTK if this is a cheaper option.

Well done Xiaomi. Hope you guys will back this aggressive pricing up with quality after sales as well. 🙂

I think this is going to be cracker… Superb value for money phone… I think I’ll book this one… just have one question, is it 4G (TDD-LTE) compatible?

Yeah sure ill buy it and all other companies like sony ,samsung htc gonna cry out really Xiaomi awesome phone with amazing pricing

Specs looks great but what about service? If they start a decent service network I will definitely buy one

Which Phone from MMX, Karbonn, Lava Spice etc
will compete with this phone ?

with a Bigger battery than Xiaomi Mi 3
