Sony on Thursday launched its flagship Xperia Z2 smartphone in the Indian market. The phone will go on sale beginning May 12 in the country with a price-tag of INR 49,990 and come bundled with a free Sony Smartband tracker.
Originally introduced at Mobile World Congress 2014 in February this year, Sony Xperia Z2 is a successor to the company’s Xperia Z1 smartphone and comes with several improvements over its predecessor. The new smartphone features a 5.2-inch full HD Triluminos display, 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. Sony Xperia Z1 also packs 3200 mAh battery, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, NFC and the usual set of connectivity options.
On the imaging front, Sony has included 20.7MP rear camera on the phone, which support 4K video recording as well as 120fps videos in slow motion. The phone also sports a 2.2MP front shooter.
According to the company, Xperia Z2 is water/ dust resistant and runs on Android 4.4. Sony has also pre-loaded several of its own applications on the device, including Xperia Lounge, TrackID and Sony Select.
Sony Xperia Z2 will be available in Black, White and Purple colour options in the country.
