With newer Google Play edition devices like HTC One (M8) GPe reaching Google Play, it is time for the older ones to get a price-cut. In the same bid, Google and Sony have reduced the price of Z Ultra Google Play edition by $200. The phone is now retailing for just $449 at Google Play in the United States.
Given the high-end specifications of the device, it is a pretty decent pricing if you want a giant smartphone with Google Experience Android, or a mini-tablet for that matter.
To remind you, Sony Z Ultra GPe features 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 6.4-inch full HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. The phone also packs NFC, 3000 mAh battery, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
The phone runs on Android 4.4.2 and will get timely Android updates for the near future.
To remind you, Google Play edition smartphones are only sold in United States right now.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Google Play edition on the way?
In related news, Google and Samsung seem to be planning to release the Google Play edition of Galaxy S5 smartphone. The Google Play team earlier today accidentally updated the image of Galaxy S4 GPe in the Google Play edition devices listing with S5 GPe image, which could mean an impending release of the S5 GPe however We can’t be certain until the official announcement.
