Gionee releases CTRL V5 Android phone in India

Advertisements

Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has quietly released a new Android smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Gionee CTRL V5, the smartphone is a successor to the company’s previously launched CTRL V4 smartphone.

Gionee CTRL V5 is now listed on the company’s official website and can be grabbed from the Gionee e-store for INR 12,999 in Black colour option (white version coming soon). We expect to see an official announcement in the coming days.

Coming to the specifications, CTRL V5 features a 4.7-inch qHD display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, dual-SIM support and Android 4.2. The phone also packs 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

At INR 13K, CTRL V5 will be competing with the likes of Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini, Karbonn Titanium S4, Lava IRIS Pro 30 and Lenovo S660 smartphone, all of which offer better value of money than the Gionee smartphone.  The phone is clearly over-price and the presence of 720p HD display would have made more sense given the huge competition in this segment.
