To launch new 4G phones in Q3

Acer CEO Jason Chen revealed at the Taiwan launch of Liquid E3 smartphone that the company plans to release its smartphones in more markets this year.  Acer sold its phones in 12 markets in 2013, however it will expand the availability to 25 markets this year.

According to Chen, most of the new markets will be European countries, where Acer plans to partner with tier-one telecom operators to release its devices.

The company hopes to sell 10 million smartphones this year, compared to 1.5 million smartphones last year. This is a huge jump for a comparably minor smartphone player and Acer will need cracking new line-up of 4G phones to help achieve the target. Thus, the company is going to unveil new 4G smartphones in Q3 of this year. Powered by Qualcomm and MediaTek processors, the 4G smartphones will also be released in Taiwan, its home market, where LTE networks are expected to go live around the same time.

Acer also revealed that it plans to launch a total of ten smartphones this year but did not specify the details.

Acer launches Liquid E3 in Taiwan for NT$9,900

In related news, Acer has launched the Liquid E3 smartphone in its home market on Tuesday. The phone has been priced at NT$9,900 (US$329) and will go on sale in the coming days.

Originally Introduced at MWC this year, Acer Liquid E3 comes with 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.2.2 and 1GB of RAM. The phone also packs 4GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi and microSD card slot.
