It is triple-SIM smartphone time in Brazil. Both Samsung and LG are ready to introduce their Android phones with triple-SIM card slots in the country. Listed on the company websites, the new Samsung Galaxy Star Trios and LG Optimus L1 II Tri are entry-level smartphones and run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Talking about Samsung Galaxy Star Trios first, the phone features a 3.1-inch QVGA (320x240p) display (320x240p), 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon single-core processor and 512MB of RAM. It also packs 2MP rear camera, 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 1300 mAh battery.
LG Optimus L1 II Tri also comes with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2MP rear camera, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The phone however packs a slightly smaller 3-inch QVGA display, microSD card slot and 1540 mAh battery.
Both smartphones include the usual connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth as well as aGPS support.
There is no word on the pricing of Galaxy Star Trios but LG Optimus L1 II Tri has been priced at 340 Brazilian Real ($141). The global availability details are a mystery at this point. Also, we don’t see these phones coming to many markets and will probably have limited availability where triple-SIM devices are popular.

What’s next? Quadruple SIM slots? Anyways, triple SIM notwithstanding, the prices for these devices should not exceed $60-70 max (~Rs. 4K). I’m astounded at the premiums that smartphone manufacturers keep charging on their sub-par devices!
