Samsung introduces Club Samsung, a content store for India

In addition to the new Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone, Samsung has also announced the launch of Club Samsung today. It is a content store, which will initially be available to the users of Galaxy Grand 2 and provides stuff like music, movies, live TV and other videos offerings.

“To provide a more engaging user experience, Samsung has launched its first digital entertainment store with Indian content in Music, Movies, Live TV & Gigs – ‘Club Samsung.’ The introduction of Club Samsung will significantly elevate user experience in terms of features, content and services. Our new offerings are a testimony of our commitment to offer differentiated products to all our valued customers,” noted Samsung in a press release.

This is not the first time Samsung has introduced a content store for India, the company had previously launched something called MyServices, which seems to have lost in the oblivion. It makes no sense why Samsung doesn’t simply keep the global offerings like Music Hub, Video Hub and others in India, rather than unveiling something new for the country specifically.

According to Samsung, Club Samsung will be available via a download from Samsung Apps and will offer Grand 2 buyers free content for three months from activation. Following which, users will have to pay per content purchase from the store.

Club Samsung Features from the press release:

  • Access to language content across 5000 Movies, 4 Lakh Songs, 500 Gigs and even Live TV with 90+ channels.
  • Content recommendations through “Discovery” – an intelligent algorithm which lets you select a playlist according to mood, era, language or genre and auto updates the playlist when fresh content is added to the store.
  • Offers content in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati
