MapmyIndia has announced the launch of its location-sharing app, ReachMe, in Google Play. This app is available for free and can be downloaded from Play Store.

MapMyIndia ReachMe allows users to share their location with others with just a tap. This is not all, users can secure the location sharing by adding a PIN, without which MapMyIndia won’t disclose user location.

“I am confident that ReachMe will be well received by the users as has been the case with other apps (Locate, Explore and MapmyIndia maps) that form the MapmyIndia SNT family. We will keep on expanding this family with an objective to offer apps that are not just innovative and highly functional but also are fun to have. Encouraging more and more people to benefit from GPS Navigation technology,” said Rakesh Verma, Managing Director, MapmyIndia.

App features:

  • One-tap location sharing
  • Share only with your trusted contacts with a link or a unique PIN
  • Share the PIN or a link to your location via WhatsApp, Twitter, Skype, Facebook, SMS or Email
  • App suggests optimal route to your contacts to reach your shared location
  • Your friends can turn the ‘follow me’ feature on to see their real-time movement on a map as they drive to you

My Views: It is surprising that MapMyIndia has launched an app just for location sharing rather than including the functionality in its Maps app. Also, Android users can always share their location easily via Google Maps, which however does not include the feature to secure the location-sharing with a PIN.
