Google working on new camera API with RAW support, burst mode and more

Commits in Android source-code have revealed that Google is actively working on making camera software better for Android devices. According to a report in Ars Technica, Google started working of a new camera API in December last year. The new API was supposed to go live in KitKat but it seems the API was not ready for the primetime, so Google was not able to make it live in Android 4.4.

Google is still working on it and it will bring RAW format support, face detection, burst mode, and support for removable cameras (probably, support for devices like Sony’s lens cameras).  Not many details are available at this point but Google does seem to be focussed on making imaging better on Android devices.
