Advertisements

Micromax has revealed that it is planning to start assembling mobile phones in India next year. The company has already started the process on a trial basis but the first Micromax devices assembled in the country will only reach market sometime next year.

“We have a plant in Rudrapur and have already started assembling of phones on trial basis there. It will be commercially launched in the first quarter of next year,” Micromax Co-founder Rahul Sharma told PTI.

There is no word on whether the company will be assembling smartphones or just features phones but given the fact that a big chunk of Micromax’s mobile portfolio now includes smartphones, it will probably be assembling smartphones in the country.

The company has reiterated that it is going to Russian market soon but unlike the previous reports, which suggested that Micromax will be entering Russia this year, the latest report indicates 2014 launch of Micromax devices in the country.

Micromax has also revealed that it will launching 20 mobile devices in the next six months, one of which is rumoured to be an octa-core smartphone powered by MediaTek’s new Octa-core SoC.
