Galaxy Gear compatibility update coming to Galaxy phones in India this month

Samsung India has announced that it will be releasing separate software updates to new Galaxy smartphones, which will bring the support for Galaxy Gear smartwatch on these devices. The software updates will go live sometime this month but the company has not shared the exact timeline.

The smartphones set to get these updates are Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy S4 zoom. The update for Galaxy S4 is already available.

“The Galaxy Gear is designed and optimized for use with other Galaxy devices to create a seamless experience for our users. Extending the Galaxy Gear compatibility to six Galaxy devices reflects our commitment to delivering more Samsung smartphone users with enhanced flexibility and freedom, thus enriching their mobile experience,” said Vineet Taneja, Country Head, Mobiles at Samsung Electronics.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Gear is sold at INR 22,990 in the Indian market.
