Android 4.4 Kitkat to bring better user-interface for Smart TVs: Report

Advertisements

According to a report in South Korean publication ET News, Google’s upcoming Android version KitKat will bring better compatibility for smart televisions and other smart devices. The search giant in particular will improve the Android user-interface with the KitKat release, to make it better for devices other than smartphones and tablets, this report added.

This report lines-up with a previous WSJ story, which indicated that Google wants to make Android more usable for devices like Smart TVs, appliances and wearables etc. Looks like, it is going to happen with Android 4.4.

The ET News report also confirms the recent GigaOM story, which suggested that Google might be planning to dump the Google TV branding and move for Android TV. As per ET News sources, LG recently received a guideline to use Android TV branding in its Google TV products.

There are no specific details available right now but given the impending launch of KitKat, we won’t to wait for a long time.
