Google acquires phone-to-phone sharing app Bump

Mobile start-up Bump has revealed that it has been bought by Google and their team will be joining the search giant. For those of you hearing about Bump for the first time, folks at Bump are the creators of smartphone apps of the same name, which are used to wirelessly share files, photos, and contacts to another phones (and computers). Bump also makes a photo-sharing app called Flock.

Not many details are available about the acquisition right now but according to AllThingsD sources, the deal was worth at least $30 million, and as much as $60 million.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to join Google, a company that shares our belief that the application of computing to difficult problems can fundamentally change the way that we interact with one another and the world. Bump and Flock will continue to work as they always have for now; stay tuned for future updates,” David Lieb, CEO and cofounder, Bump wrote in a blog post.
