According to a blog post on official Android Blog, Android Device Manager not only allows users to ring their smartphone at the maximum volume even if it is on the silent mode, it also lets them track it in realtime on a map.
In addition to these two very important features, Android Device Manager will also allow consumers to wipe personal information and data if they fear that their information might fall in wrong hands.
“Have you ever lost your phone in between the couch cushions or forgot it in a restaurant? Or maybe searching for your phone before you rush out the door is part of your morning routine? Later this month, the new Android Device Manager can help you out. It’s one of a few simple features you can use to keep your device—and the data you store inside—safe and secure,” noted Benjamin Poiesz, Product Manager, Android in the blog post.
Android Device Manager app as well as the web based service will be available later this month for devices running Android 2.2 or above.
