Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside has revealed that a more affordable version of Moto X smartphone is in works. This cheaper Moto X will be released for US pre-paid users and in select emerging markets across the world.

This report about even affordable Moto X also clarifies why there is no word on the release of main Moto X smartphone outside US, Canada and Latin America.

“The experience of devices you can get for less than $200 is subpar right now and we want everyone to have access to affordable smartphones,” Woodside told CNET in an interview.

Woodside also noted that Moto X isn’t just a smartphone and multiple devices will be released under Moto X moniker, which lines up with some of the rumours that we had heard in the past.

“Moto X is the brand that we are most focused on, aAnd there is more to come. You will see additional products within months,” Woodside added.

There is no word on the features of cheaper Moto X right now but the company could strip-down RAM and internal storage to reduce the cost.
