Also reveals Android 4.2 update schedule for Xperia ZR and Tablet Z

With a day of Google announcing Android 4.3, Sony has confirmed that it will be releasing Android 4.3 update for select Xperia smartphones. The phones, which will be receiving the latest version of update, include Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia ZR and Xperia SP. The company has also revealed that Xperia Tablet Z will also be getting the Android 4.3 update.

This is not a final list and if possible, Sony would most probably add smartphones like Xperia L and Xperia C to the list of devices getting Android 4.3 update.

Sony also said that it plans to update some of its devices directly to Android 4.3 from Android 4.1 and these plans will be revealed in the coming days. It makes sense for the company considering there isn’t much change between Android 4.2 and 4.3 and it would be wise to update the devices directly to the latest version rather than repeating the process. However, it is important to note that this might delay the update process for another couple months.

In addition, Sony has noted that Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z will start receiving Android 4.2 update from early August.
