New Nexus 7 detailed ahead of official launch

Google might be planning to launch the new Nexus 7 tablet later today at a press event in San Francisco but a flurry of leaks has already revealed almost everything about the tablet.

Multiple leaks originating from different sources have detailed the various aspects of the tablet including the packaging and all.

Here is a first set of images that show the new Nexus 7 tablet as well as its packaging, you can also check out an unboxing video of the device.

In the second leak, the full tablet specifications as well as benchmark results have been revealed.

New Nexus 7 tablet: 7-inch 1920x1200p resolution display, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.3 (JWR66N), 16/ 32GB of internal storage,

Benchmark results:

  • Antutu: 19883 (for perspective Nexus 4 gets around 18,00 and HTC One around 22,000)
  • Quadrant: 5,500
  • 3D Mark: 7,188

We already know the pricing and the expected availability dates, so Google is pretty much going to tell us what we already know at the launch event. There might be some new things on Android 4.3 end but the new Android version also does not seem to be much of an upgrade.
