With phone sales tumbling and executives leaving the company, HTC has decided to a do a little re-organization in US.

The company has created a new Emerging Devices business unit to focus on making innovative products and appointed Jason Mackenzie to head its US operations, reports The Wall Street Journal citing an internal email.

There is no information on the new business unit right now but HTC has confirmed its existence to WSJ.

Text from internal email:

“Effective immediately, in addition to his current duties in supporting me with global corporate strategy, Jason Mackenzie will lead HTC America. Mike Woodward will lead Emerging Devices, a newly established business unit that will focus on innovative new HTC products and global distribution strategies.”

“I want to thank these two outstanding leaders for their contributions to the success of the HTC One so far. But as you know and would expect, we also need to do more. With the success of the One, we have many new opportunities both to expand current sales as well as to enter new distribution channels with new business models.”
