Latest numbers about Android from Google’s Q2 earnings call
Google CEO Larry Page has announced that Google Play has crossed the 50 billion app downloads mark. He was speaking at the Q2 earnings call. Page did not say on when exactly this happened but considering the fact that Google shared the 48 billion app downloads number at Google I/O in May 2013, it would have happened sometime this month itself.
Page also revealed that Google has already paid more money to the Play Store developers than entire 2012, clearly showing the more and more users are buying apps from Google Play and Android is growing at a great pace.
Google CEO also shared the Android activation numbers but they are same as the ones announced during Google I/O 2013 – 900 million total device activations and 1.5 million daily device activations.
Larry Page on Moto X:
Larry did not say much about Moto X, here is his full remark from the opening statement and part of what he said in the reply of a question.
- “I know you’re all eagerly anticipating what Motorola is launching soon. Having been a tester for a while. I’m very excited.”
- “And I think we’re really excited about it. I think they’re excited about it and obviously you’ll get to try it out pretty soon.”
