Teases a “Designed by you” smartphone

Motorola is all set to kick-off its first advertising campaign for the upcoming Moto X smartphone tomorrow in the United States.  The first print advertisement for Moto X will run in The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post as a full page spread on July 3.

Setting a patriotic tone for Fourth of July, this print ad talks about the phone’s made in USA nature. The ad title – The first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA in coming – is pretty straight forward.

In an interview with Ad Age, Motorola’s VP-global brand and product marketing Brian Wallace noted that there is no better time to pass on a message like a “made in USA smartphone.”

Although, Google owned Motorola has officially announced Moto X, it has not shared any details about the phone itself. While talking to Ad Age, Brain revealed one of the key features of this phone.

According to Brain, Moto X will be the first phone that you can design yourself, it will be customizable but he did not share which of the phone’s component will be available for personalization. This is also the unique selling point of the phone and the same has been reflected in the Moto X tagline – “Designed by you. Assembled in the USA.”

No other details are available at this point but as Motorola has noted earlier, the Moto X is coming this summer, we just don’t know when. Check out the full advertisement below:

Not sure what Motorola is trying to prove by doing and saying this loudly “The first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA in coming”?

Specially in today’s times when there’s so much of focus on globalization and using global teams to deliver true global products and services!

$ Price? Also is there a India device being made available for Indian customers @ Google’s exclusive stores coming up in India. I hear these can be customised too .. that’ll be neat.
