ZTE to launch smartphones, tablets in India

Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE is planning to enter the already crowded Indian smartphone market. The company has partnered with Pune-based Calyx Telecommunications to distribute its products in the country.

According to a report in Business Line, ZTE will initially release five smartphones ranging from INR 5,799 to INR 14,999 followed by tablets.

The company told Business Line that the first models will be available in all major states by the end-of-October; however it will start with Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

“Globally, ZTE is the fourth largest handset manufacturer and we are certain to strengthen our position in India, which is a key growth propeller for us, contributing to 10 per cent of our overall revenues,” ZTE India Chief Executive Officer Xu Dejun said in a statement.

There are no details available on the devices right now, but as soon as we get something new, we will share it with you guys.

Hope they’ll launch their self manufactured devices and not those rebranded shitphones.
I’d really like to see Grand X2, with a nice price tag here in India.
