Sony is reportedly planning to supplement Xperia Z with a new model, which will fill the gap between Xperia Z and Xperia SP smartphones. Dubbed as Xperia ZR, this phone will come with the model number C550x.

Sony Xperia ZR will be featuring a 4.6-inch 1280x720p display. The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core processor. The phone will also come with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and 2,300 mAh battery.

On the imaging front, Sony will include a 13MP rear camera, and a front camera of unknown resolution. The Xperia ZR will also be water/ dust resistant with IP55/IP58 rating similar to Xperia Z’s IP55/IP57 rating.

The phone will have Xperia ZL like design, but with glass back like Xperia Z.  There is no word on the launch of the phone, but we think Sony will give Xperia SP and L some time before launching Xperia ZR.
