Asus has finally announced the availability and pricing details of its new Fonepad Android tablet in UK. The company will start taking pre-orders for this Android tablet with voice-calling support on April 12 for £179.99.

According to Asus, the Fonepad will be sold at UK retailers like Carphone Warehouse, Sainsburys and Amazon. The actual shipping of the tablet will start on April 26 in the country.

Originally announced at Mobile World Congress in February, Asus Fonepad features a 7-inch 1280x800p display. It runs on Android 4.1; however reports indicate that Asus is trying to push Android 4.2 update as soon as possible.

Among other features, Fonepad is powered by Intel Atom Z2420 processor, which was last seen in budget Android phones like XOLO X800 and Safaricom Yolo.  The tablet also packs 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 1.2MP front-facing camera and a 3-megapixel shooter on the rear. It also comes with 4270 mAh battery on-board.

In related news, Asus has shipped 3 million units in the first quarter of this year and it is targeting to ship 12 million tablets this year.
