LG to build next Nexus with 720p display, 9MP CCD camera [Rumour]

Advertisements

Today seems to be a big day for rumours pertaining to upcoming big smartphone launches. We first reported about Motorola X Phone, then Galaxy Note 3 and now it is the turn of next Nexus phone.

Information from an unverified tip posted by Phonearena suggests that LG will also be building the next Nexus smartphone (probably dubbed as nexus 5). The phone will be skipping on the full HD craze and come with a 4.5-inch 720p IPS display similar to the last two Nexus phones. Personally, I think 720p HD is more than enough for a smartphone with less than 5-inch display, but that does not mean I believe that Google and LG are indeed going to skip 1080p in Nexus 5.

The other details revealed in this tip include the presence of 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2800 mAh battery and 9MP CCD camera. The CCD camera part especially gives away that the whole tip is made up and there is hardly any truth in it. CCD sensors don’t really have any clear advantages over CMOS sensors that are typically used in smartphone cameras. Also, the CCD sensors are more expensive than CMOS sensors and need extra circuitry.

We suggest that you take this with a punch of salt as there is 99.99pc chance we will never see a Nexus phone with these rumoured specs.
