Company has released a Firefox OS based experimental ROM for its budget smartphone Xperia E. Available for download, it is meant for advanced users and developers only, as majority of important daily use functions are currently not working.
“At Sony Mobile, we continue to evaluate innovative technologies that can help deliver the premium user experiences that Sony’s consumers expect. Our engineers are now working with Firefox OS Mobile and HTML5, evolving technologies which show great potential,” Bob Ishida, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Head of Products Business Group at Sony Mobile noted in a blog post.
The company has already revealed that it is planning to bring a Firefox OS smartphone next year. Here is a video showing Firefox OS on Xperia E.
