Intel confirms impending Asus FonePad launch

Intel has just confirmed in its MWC press release that Asus is indeed launching the first tablet with Intel Atom Z2420 processor later today. Rumoured to be known as Asus FonePad, the tablet will come with Android 4.1 and voice calling capabilities.

“Demonstrating the flexibility of the Atom SoC platform to accommodate a range of device and market segment needs, ASUS* later today will announce a new Android* tablet based on the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z2420,” Intel noted in the press release.

Asus has already released several teasers for the device like “metallic miracle” and “a new discovery at hand.”  The tablet is expected to come with 7-inch display, 1GB RAM, 3MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, microSD card slot, and 4270 mAh battery.

Intel Atom Z2420 processor, which is a part of Asus FonePad, has already been seen in products like XOLO X500, Safaricom Yolo, Acer Liquid C1 and Etisalat E-20.
