Nexus 7 tops iPad in Japan: Survey

Nexus 7 seems to be gaining a lot of market share in the land of rising sun. According to a report in Nikkei, this Asus-made Nexus tablet has even topped the iPad in the country. The publication cites a survey conducted by market research firm BCN in December.

In this survey of 2,400 consumer electronics stores in Japan, Nexus 7 tablet had 44.4 percent of the market versus the iPad’s 40.1 percent.

This is no surprise considering Nexus 7 is priced $100 less in Japan than Apple’s least expensive iPad Mini and offers better features. However the survey in question did note the shortage of iPad Mini in Japan is slightly to blame for its losing market share.

Nexus 7, which was launched at Google I/O 2012, comes with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 7.-inch 1280x800p display, Wi-Fi, front camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
