In its bid to capture some of Whatsapp’s market, Facebook has pushed another major update for its Facebook Messenger app for Android. The new version, which went live earlier today in Google Play, brings voice messaging support to the app.
Facebook has been implementing quite a few new features to its official Messenger app. It has even removed the requirement of a Facebook account to use Messenger on Android last month.
With today’s update, users will be able to record and send voice messages to their contacts within the app. There is a new Record toggle, which is used for the purpose.
This is in no way an industry shattering feature, but is certainly a step in right direction for Facebook, which is also experimenting with VoIP in Canada. Its messenger app for iOS will now allow Canadian user to make voice call over their 3G or Wi-Fi networks. We hope the feature debuts for Android users soon.
