Sony has announced a new Xperia series smartphone today in the form of Xperia E. To be sold in both single SIM as well as dual-SIM versions, it seems to be targeted to budget smartphone buyers.  According to the company, Sony Xperia E will be available sometime in Q1 2013.

Sony Xperia E will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at launch and feature 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor, 3.5-inch HVGA display and 3.2MP rear camera. There will be 512MB RAM on-board along with removable 1500 mAh battery.

Both single and dual SIM variant come with the same features including DLNA connectivity, HD voice and 3D surround sound.

Sony Mobile notes Xperia E will be available in black, white and pink colours and Xperia E dual in black and gold colours.

“Consumers looking to take their first steps into the world of Xperia smartphones would be well advised to look at Xperia E or Xperia E dual. They are perfect for those seeking affordable access to the quality and functionality more traditionally associated with high-end Android smartphones,” said Calum MacDougall, Director Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.
