Utter! for Android – another voice assistant application sets its sights on Siri

Advertisements

It seems as though voice assistant apps are all the rage these days, even though offerings like Vlingo Virtual Assistant have been available on Android for quite some time. If you’ve been keeping tabs, we’ve seen a ton of new options enter the Siri-slayer race in the past few months and now we have one more to add to the list.

Say hello to Utter! — or at least an early-alpha version of the app, created by XDA user brandall. He was kind enough to share a greatly-detailed 22-minute YouTube video of the app in action, as well as access to a framework test application for those that wish to assist with the alpha testing.

No time frame was given for a public release of Utter!, but you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be doing a hands-on review when the .apk file becomes available. For more information, be sure to head over to brandall’s thread on XDA.

Keep in mind, this is only for “hardened testers” at the moment, so don’t show up expecting a fully-functional version of the app just yet.

What do you think? Does Utter! look like it has what it takes to topple the Apple beast that is Siri, or is this just another case of flashing lights, bells and whistles?
