Rumor: Sony working on Tegra 3 powered Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet?

Advertisements

The latest offering from the rumor mill pegs Sony as having a new device up its sleeve, fresh with Android 4.0 and the highly-touted NVIDIA Tegra 3 that’s been all over the Internet as of late. This little tidbit of gossip stems from a mysterious entry on the leaderboard of Android benchmarking app NenaMark, as reported by The Verge. The device looks to be running Android 4.0.3 and features a 1280 x 800 screen resolution — the same resolution found on the Sony Tablet S (1280 x 752 thanks to the onscreen Android buttons).

Unfortunately, that’s all we really have to go on at the moment, as the test was run by a user named ‘sony s1,’ which was also the original name of Sony’s Tablet S. Apparently, this is more than enough to get the rumor mill churning, so we’d like to hear your thoughts.

Does it make sense that Sony would already be planning a new tablet? If so, would the inclusion of Tegra 3 and Ice Cream Sandwich sway your decision towards picking one up? Drop us a comment in the thread below to join in the conversation.

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes and ears on this one, folks. If anything more solid hits the air, we’ll be sure to let you know.
