Apple wins injunction against Motorola in Germany

Advertisements

Apple got its second victory against Motorola yesterday when a Munich regional court issued an injunction against Motorola smartphones due to slide-to-unlock patent infringement. However Motorola isn’t worried; according to the company, it has already implemented a new design for the feature. Therefore, it expects no impact on current supply or future sales.

Motorola also plans to appeal against the decision. This decision might have impact on other manufacturers’ smartphones in Germany as variations of slide-to-unlock are being used by several Android smartphones.

The slide-to-unlock patent EP1964022B1 deals with a method for unlocking a device in which the user swipes his finger across an image.
