European Union and US regulators have approved Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility. EU has however expressed concerns that Google might abuse the Motorola patents. Search engine giant still needs a few more approvals from China, Taiwan and Israel before this deal could be final.

“This is an important milestone in the approval process and it moves us closer to closing the deal. We are now just waiting for decisions from a few other jurisdictions before we can close this transaction,” Google stated in a blog post following the EU approval announcement.

Google is taking over Motorola Mobility to fend off patent trolls from Android ecosystem as well as grant the company hardware capabilities. Company has however maintained that it will operate Motorola as a separate business and this deal would not have any negative impact on Android ecosystem.
