Majority of TVs will come with Google TV by the summer of 2012 – Eric Schmidt

During his long talk at the ongoing Le Web 2011, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt had a lot to share about Android, Chrome and Google TV along with the usual Google stuff. One of the interesting statements that he made at the interview was his prediction of Google TV to be present on majority of TVs by the summer of 2012.

His statement:

“By the summer of 2012, the majority of the televisions you see in stores will have Google TV embedded in it.”

From a company that just released a version 2.0 of Google TV, and is looking for hardware partners to launch products and the fact it lost one recently, it was certainly a longshot unless they have some secret stuff going on. We have been hearing rumors of Samsung and LG joining the Google TV in the recent time, but nothing concrete or official has come out.

Eric stated that they are following same path and model with Google TV that they used with Android. Unless company plans to hold a big event soon to announce more partners, hardware and availability outside US, I don’t really have much faith in his predictions.
