Advertisements

HTC has just announced Explorer – An Android phone for first time smartphone users. Taiwanese company had only two smartphones till now in the entry-level segment, but none as cheap, which could be purchased by first time users.

But with the launch of Explorer HTC is trying to change that. As we are writing this, the press conference is still underway in Delhi, but according to a press release received by Slashgear, HTC Explorer features a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen, 600MHz processor and 3-megapixel camera.

Other features include 3G, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, microSD card slot, 483MB ROM, 512MB of RAM, 1230 mAh battery and Android 2.3.5 with HTC Sense 3.5.

HTC Explorer will be available starting October in Europe and Asia including India. Pricing has not been disclosed till now (check updates); we will update the post as soon as we hear something.

Updates:

HTC Explorer supports several Indian languages; we are trying to get the list of all the supported languages and update the post.

Data Plans for India:  Vodafone users will get double data on some 3G plans, which include 200MB for Rs 100, 1GB for Rs 375 and 2GB for Rs 650 plans. You can activate these plans by sending EXPLORER to 111. However it is only valid till December 31.

Pricing: HTC Explorer has been priced it INR 11,650 (Updated) in India, which is a little disappointing considering the specifications.

Pricing has been very unrealistic as apart from Android 2.3.5 it has the same config of Samsung Galaxy Pop, pricing around 8K. Only after few months when the price will drop, people could consider of buying one, else its a loss.

yeah i doubt he price is too much expensive , eventhough is an entry lvl phone..
