Sony S1 might be called Tablet S, more details out

In line with earlier rumors of a possible September launch, Engadget recently reported that Sony S1 might be launched in the first two weeks of the next month. According to publication’s sources, S1 is also going for a name change and it would now be called Tablet S, well S1 was just a codename.

While the details were scarce till now about this Sony Honeycomb tablet, but now according to a leaked presentation, Tablet S will come with Android 3.1 with Ice Cream Sandwich upgradability, it will also have Infrared to control your TV and other devices directly from the tablet.

In other details, Tablet S will come with a TrueBlack screen, which provides better color without glare, and host of accessories. It will feature a 5MP camera on the back and a 3 MP front facing one and will support media sharing over DLNA.

As earlier reported, Sony S1 will come be Playstation certified, and will come pre-installed with Sony’s Video, Music, and Book services. There is no word on the pricing right now, but it should be out very soon.
