HTC’s first NFC phone ‘Stunning’ to launch next month

HTC has partnered with China’s sole credit card provider China UnionPay to announce its first NFC smartphone. Dubbed as ‘HTC Stunning, the smartphone will debut in China next month.

HTC Stunning features a 4 inch display with Android 2.3 on-board. Other features are still unknown. Being the first device to bring NFC based payment system in China; it is expected to bring a revolution of such devices with local makers jumping in.

The mobile payments market was 20.3 billion yuan ($3.16 billion) in 2010 and according to an estimate will reach 150 billion yuan by 2013. On the other hand, the number of NFC compatible point of sale is currently 400,000 in the country, which is also expected to grow to 700,000 by the end of this year.
