Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich arriving in October – Rumor

Reports are coming in that Google may launch the next iteration of Android in October along with the first devices. There is no word on who are the manufacturers of these first Ice Cream Sandwich devices. But Google wants to leave no stone unturned as Apple is expected to launch iPhone 5 sometime in Sep/Oct, and see any potential customers going iPhone’s way.

While, there is not much known about Ice Cream Sandwich, apart from the fact that it will be the first unified version of Android for all devices ranging from phones to tablets. It is also expected to come with a new interface, which will make hardware Android buttons unwanted.

Too bad the carriers control the update schedule because most of us have very little chance of actually getting the new version without actually buying a new phone. It took forever for Sprint to update my Evo 4G.
