Samsung may have surpassed Apple, Nokia in smartphone sales

Samsung may have surpassed Nokia and Apple in the smartphone sales in the last quarter for the first time. According to London-based analyst at Strategy Analytics, Samsung’s Android portfolio is selling strongly, giving it a reasonable chance to capture the top spot on the quarterly basis.

Company’s flagship Android smartphone for the year Galaxy S II has been selling like hot-cakes, and with the help of this Samsung is estimated to have sold between 18 million and 21 million smartphones globally in the April-June quarter.

While for the same timeframe, Nokia is estimated to have sold 16.7 million and Apple 20.3 million. None of these numbers are official right now, but look highly probable.
