Samsung replaces HTC to become No. 4 smartphone maker

Thanks to the sales of its flagship smartphone Galaxy S, Samsung drove past HTC to become world fourth -largest maker of smartphones in the July-September quarter.

According to the report by International Data Corp, Samsung claimed 8.9 percent of smartphones shipped globally during the quarter.

Smartphone makers and shipments in 3rd Q:

Nokia – No.1 – 32.7 percent

Apple – No.2 – 17.4 percent

RIM – No.3 – 15.3 percent

Samsung – No.4 – 8.9 percent

HTC – No.5 – 7.2 percent
