Android to capture 12 pc of Indian smartphone market by 2011-end

Android has slowly gaining significant market share in Indian mobile phone market. While the number was only 9 pc by the end of 2010 3Q, it is expected to go upto 12 pc by the end of current year.

According to CyberMedia Research, smartphones market in India is expected grow to over 10 million units in 2011 from 6 million units in 2010.

On the other hand, tablet segment will also see healthy growth and over 1 lakh units are expected to ship this year from companies including Samsung, Olive, Apple, but it would be interesting to see how many of these are based on Android.
