In the wake of upcoming Android tablets, Samsung Galaxy Tab has seen quite a price drop in Australia. The tablet is retailing now for just AUS$299 at JB Hi-Fi and Telstra. The version available at JB Hi-Fi is unlocked, while Telstra version will be expectedly locked to the telecom operator.

But, the offer is only valid till May 3, so you better hurry. As we have already reported that the test version of tablet’s Gingerbread update is already reaching telecom operators, so you might get lucky soon after the purchase.

To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with 7-inch display with 1024×600-pixel touchscreen, Android 2.2 Froyo, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth 3.0, DLNA networking, and front and rear cameras for video calling.  The Tab also has a Cortex A8 1GHz processor.

Ensure if purchasing from T life store that you ask them to unlock the device from Telstra network before leaving. Or you will have to return like I have to 🙁

Hi Info – did you have to pay to unlock your device? I just bought mine online for $299 and called them and they said it was ‘unlocked’. Not sure what to believe!

Thanks.
