Samsung Galaxy S I9000 Gingerbread update rolling out in select regions

Advertisements

Samsung has started rolling out Gingerbread update for Galaxy S in select market, most of these are European countries, and there is no word on the update in India or other Asian countries. We expect the Asian roll out will begin in next couple of days. We hope Samsung does not start delaying it the same it did for FroYo in few countries.

Update Details:

  • Baseband is I9000XXJVK
  • Kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVB-CL118186
  • Build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVB
  • Firmware Version 2.3.3

If you have the update, let us know in comments your experience with Android 2.3.3 on Galaxy S.

Hi, I have flashed my SGS with XXJVB yesterday … So far I have not experienced any lags .. that means we don’t need any lag fix if we have this firmware .. but Gallery is still laggy … better Battery life .. If the phone is idle it is consuming 1% of battery per hour. 🙂 .. This is the best firmware out there for SGS

I think Samsung India was first to comment that Galaxy S wil get Gingerbread update. However Samsung hasn’t released 2.2.1 in India yet. I think Samsung phones are meant for Europe only.
